British BMX Hall of Fame 2024 UPDATE

2024 marks the third year of the British BMX Hall of Fame. Whilst we will continue to nominate and induct people into the Hall of Fame annually, and continue to document the history of British BMX racing and freestyle via this website and our social media channels, we have decided to take a year off hosting an annual award
ceremony in 2024.

We know this may come as a disappointment to many and is a decision we have not arrived at lightly. However, we are all too aware that the UK economy (and especially the bicycle industry) is at an all time low right now and many of our target audience are affected by the UK cost of living crisis. This also affects us in several ways ranging from the ability to sell tickets for the event, to attracting sponsors to help us meet some of the costs of putting on the event. As we are sure those who attended either event in 2022 and 2023 will confirm, we put on a good show with high production values at a prestigious venue, to make it a memorable night for everyone in attendance. But such an event does not come cheaply, and we don’t feel we can maintain the high standards we have set for ourselves in the current economic climate.

However, as stated above, our mission to continue nominating and inducting people into the Hall of Fame will continue despite there being no annual event in 2024. We are as committed as ever to continuing to honour those who have made a significant contribution to making British BMX great. 2024 will also give us the opportunity to conduct more research and update our social media channels.

As a reminder, the British BMX Hall of Fame was created by a small but dedicated group of volunteers who organise and run the British BMX Hall of Fame in their own time on a non-profit basis. If you think you would like to get involved or contribute to the British BMX Hall of Fame in some way, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Last but not least, a huge thanks to those who supported us in 2022 and 2023, and we promise you we are already working on and looking forward to putting on another great British BMX Hall of Fame event in 2025 (and the good news is we all have at least 18 months to prepare/save for it).
