Congratulations to Debbie Scott-Webb! Inducted into the British BMX Hall of Fame Class of 2025 – Pioneer Female Racer

The Scott-Webb family were deeply involved in BMX during the sport’s earliest years as part of the Ipswich Witches BMX Club. Debbie started riding in 1980 after watching her brothers, Dean and Jason, get into the sport, and she quickly fell in love with BMX. Their dad, Barry, was also heavily involved behind the scenes through to the mid-1980s with both the Ipswich track and UKBMX.

Debbie’s first bike was a Puch Challenger, and she became part of the very first girls’ races in the UK, winning at Buckmore Park alongside Jane Windle and Deana Orford. Because there were so few girls racing at the time, Debbie often lined up against the boys.

She went on to win the UKBMX National Number 1 title during the first official season in 1981, and again in 1983 and 1984. Debbie also raced at the 1983 World Championships in Holland and earned second and third place finishes at the European Championships in 1983 and 1984. She also competed in the Kellogg’s BMX Series during both 1984 and 1985.

Throughout her career, Debbie rode for GT, Mongoose, YES and Scorpion. She appeared on the cover of Look-In magazine, earned a prestigious “Me and My Bike” feature in BMX Action Bike Magazine, and received regular coverage across all the major BMX media outlets of the era.
