Congratulations to Fids! Inducted into The British BMX Hall Of Fame Class of 2024, King of Dirt Category
Mark Findlay, “Fids”, first discovered BMX during its 80s boom period while living in Ramsgate, Kent. Not long after, he found the legendary Gillingham skatepark, where he started to develop his riding ability. From that point on, Fids was off on his life journey.
In the early 90s, he rode with the Union crew, riding the trails of Pinner and Ashford. After only a couple of years, with his natural determination and full-throttle approach, Fids became the breakout rider at the annual ’94 Backyard Jam with his iconic middle finger no-handers! Everyone knew his name after that day and all wanted to see more of him.
Fids not only ripped on a bike, he also ripped on a skateboard and skated vert for the iconic brand Zorlac.
An epic video part in the annual Backyard VHS the same year and sponsorship from S&M Bikes in ’95 was just the start of what was to come. His mix of badass tricks, ridiculous crashes, plenty of laughing, and a bit of skating thrown in for good measure became his hallmark and the reason he commanded such high respect within BMX.
The name Fids is known worldwide, and he has done more for BMX than most would know.
